Helmsman's Display 4.12 introduced with the launch of the NaviPac 4.11 version has a new tool for taking Positional fixes. This comes as a replacement of the old tool included in the NaviPac Online, XYZCal.exe, which is still available under the Calibration section.
The settings of the tool are located under the Settings - Options - General - Position Fix (Figure 1). Here you can set the Default number of samples (default is 20), Default positional Fix Technique (Average or Median), Show Grid as Lat/Lon or Show filtered position at Lat/Lon.

Figure 1 - Settings of the Positional Fix
To deploy the tool the user must select the vehicle for which the Positional Fix must be taken, right click on the vehicle and select Take Positional Fix (Figure 2)

Figure 2 - Take Positional fix for a vehicle
Once pressed the tool starts to record the vehicle position and a new window will open on the Map view showing a plot, observations, standard deviation, the results in Lat/Lon, option to Export and create a Waypoint. Also, in this plot you can choose which observation to use or reject with the mouse or with a circle option (Figure 3). While the observations are taken one by one, the user has the option to Stop the process before the limit set in the Options in case he wants to interrupt the process.

Simultaneously a new node named Position fix list appears on the Project tree with a new entry for the vehicle selected (Figure 4). The new entry contains the name of the vehicle, date and hour of the position fix, number of samples set to be taken, number of samples taken and number of samples used. In the Properties section additional informations are presented, Vessel name/Sampling progress/Sampling completed (Figure 5).

Figure 4 - Position fix list and new entry
The selection of the observations to be used is done by simply selecting an option, mouse or circle, and choosing the observations in the plot. With the option mouse, when you click on an observation you mark it as rejected and the other are used. With the option circle you mark the used ones and the observations outside the circle are marked automatically as rejected. Once done, the rejected ones are marked with red and the numbers updates (Figure 5). Acceptated are marks with colour green and average/median is marked with blue.

Figure 5 - selecting the observations to be used
After the selections of the observations to be used, a waypoint can be generated from average or median. Once the user pressed on the Create button, a waypoint is created and added to the Project Tree under Waypoints node with the same information described above for the Position fix list (Figure 6). The waypoint has External references meaning if External References window is opened and a click is made on the entry the Report attached is opening (Figure 7).

The observations can be exported as a report by pressing the Export button (Figure 8). Once the export is done a new window will appear on the screen which informs the user about the state of the export and gives 3 other options for going forward (Open in a text editor, Open in default editor and Open containing folder).

To Delete, Edit or fast create a waypoint out of the Positional fix entry under the Positional fix list in the Project tree, right click and choose the option desired.
The new tool also supports USft unit (Figure 8). Known limitation - Report still generated in metrics. Please use the old tool instead for this if needed.
