Q: What backscatter\side scan layers can be created in NaviModel Producer?
A: NaviModel Producer includes three relevant layers: Intensity, backscatter and backscatter equalized
The classic intensity color mode was primarily designed to support sidescan, surveys without multibeam data.
Backscatter and Backscatter Equalized are new layers in the database that contain intensity from each point in the multibeam data. The backscatter of each sounding is assigned by the echosounder. The backscatter, angle and range properties for each sounding can be seen in the raw points window when the mouse is hovering over the DTM points (if hover previously enabled).
The backscatter cell value is the average of the backscatter values inside the cell. The equalized backscatter only exists as a grid. It is the average of the equalized soundings. Unfortunately, there is no way so see equalized intensity for each sounding.
Backscatter layer was introduced with the NaviModel Producer 4.8. Click on the hiperlink to open the release notes (chapter 2.2) for more details.
