Q:
When starting the NaviModel Producer, the error message comes up:
...Could not read from database. A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The Server was not found or was not accessible…

How can this be avoided?

A:

This error shows up if a NaviModel project created in an older version of NaviModel / NaviEdit is opened on a newer software version.
In this case NaviModel gives a warning that the database is not found. The reason for it could be that either the database is named differently or comes from another computer.

To avoid the warning check these options to solve the issue:

 - Create a new NaviModel project and reimport from NaviEdit

- Remove the Survey data from the NaviModel project and reimport the data from NaviEdit.

- Browse to the NaviModel project tree / Survey / Database / Rename external links.
This will completely remove the link to the SQL server and that is ok if all project data is stored locally.
