If a ScanFish (for example a Katria) stops working, you can ping it but get no feedback from the fish, or it goes into a system-failure state then work through the following steps.

Check the connection and access

  1. If you can ping the ScanFish, open its IP address in a web browser to see whether you can reach its web interface.
  2. Note the firmware version on the ScanFish and the Flight software version on the topside PC.
  3. Rule out the topside PC: install the Flight software on another laptop or PC (from the EIVA download site) and try connecting to the ScanFish from there.

Recovering from a system-failure state

A ScanFish in system failure, for example, the topside is off but the altimeter is still working and a flap driven to its maximum angle. In one reported case the connection was restored after fully powering down and discharging the battery, then reconnecting the system. After any such recovery, test the fish thoroughly on deck before deploying.
