Q: How do I read in a vessel position from an AIS system in NaviPac? Can I also log the position with the Logging utility?

A: NaviPac has the capability to read in any vessel position from the AIS system integrated via the AISIF.exe module (C:\EIVA\NaviPac\bin\AISIF.exe) and also to log it as is or with an offset and POI assigned.

Details on how to setup the AIS in NaviPac can be found here: https://eiva.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/43000745142-how-can-i-interface-ais-in-navipac-

In order to achieve this the following steps must be followed:

1. In the AISIF module click on Edit - Data output setup and in the new window Position Data to NaviPac, tick Send selected objects to NaviPac and press OK as shown below:

2. In the Main window of the AISIF, double click on the vessel or vessels that you want the position to be brought in NaviPac and define the Tug ID that will be later inserted in NaviPac Config, as shown below:

3. In NaviPac Config the data will be read in with the Remote dynamic object driver added to the Main Vessel. The I/O must be setup as defined in the step 1 from above. Please see below:

On the Remote dynamic object driver, you press on plus and add it to the prior created Vessel you want to position. On the Vessel selected where the new driver is added, the TP code must be filled in (TP code defined in the step 2) and optional offsets and POI, as showed below:

4. Save the NaviPac configuration and Start NaviPac

5. In the Online the new Vessel position from AISIF can be brought in, as shown below:

6. The Vessel will be present in Helmsman display as well as its POI's. It's position will be logged by the Logging utility once the logging is started.
