The Mode column in the Vehicle Control view determines how NaviSuite Kuda Core moves through the segments of a runline.

The three modes

  • Manual - you advance through the runline segments yourself by pressing the Next Segment button.
  • Automatic - the segment that is followed is chosen automatically as the closest segment of the runline to the vehicle.
  • Sequential - the segments are used in consecutive order as the vehicle progresses along the runline.

Which to use

Sequential is recommended. With Automatic, if the vessel is told to make a U-turn where the runline turn radius is smaller than the actual turn radius of the vessel, there is a risk that the start of the turn segment is selected again after the turn  which can send the vessel around in circles. Sequential avoids this by always moving to the next segment in order.

When you select a runline, the Status in Vehicle Control and the runline on the Map View turns yellow, the vehicle is navigating but not yet recording. When you press Start Line, the status changes to Surveying and turns green, and data is recorded.
